To do that, we have to do some digging in the files, but luckily they are in the common folder under "ideas".
Say we want to make a mod that changes the amount of discipline that Prussia gets from its ambition from 5% back to it's rightful 7.5% discipline. To modify folders, the first thing we need to do is add replica folders into the mod folder in the same order that they appear in the Europa Universalis IV folder (don't worry, this will make a lot more sense.) Now, you want to decide what you want to modify. To get there go to C://Program Files/Steam/steamapps/common/Europa Universalis IV. Cool, right?Īnyway, the first thing we want to do is go into the "Europa Universalis IV" folder that's under steamapps, not the one in Paradox Interactive (obviously). How the game works is it takes the data that is in your mod folder and overwrites the data that's in the base game in favor of your mod. Okay, now that we've gotten through all that, we can finally start to make your mod (it's exhausting, right?) The modding process for Eu4 (or most newer paradox games, for that matter) is very simple to learn. If it isn't, check and make sure you did everything correctly, and if you still can't figure it out PM me or leave a comment to this thread. To make sure you did it right and the game detects your mod, load up EU4, go to "mods" tab up by the top of the launch screen, and see if your mod is there. Congratulations! You've created your mod folder. Now, right click the mod file you just created, hit rename, and add. (or of course, whatever the name of your folder is) Now, hit ctrl+alt+s in Notepad++ once you've finalized that document, and save the document as "all types", not txt! Also you should save it into your "mod" folder but not the "MorePrussianDiscipline" folder. It is very important that you have the quotation marks after name= path= and supported_version= Supported_version="1.25.*.*" (or whatever the version supported is, last two numbers can be substituted with asterisks like shown if it doesn't matter.)
Path="mod/MorePrussianDiscipline" MorePrussianDiscipline should be replaced with whatever you named the mod folder so the game knows where your mod is.
Name="Whatever you want to show up as your mods name when you load Eu4" Open ( ) and now type this in the "notepad" part of your soon-to-be mod folder. This part is where people get confused don't worry because it's very simple. Name it whatever you want, for the purpose of this tutorial I'll be calling it "MorePrussianDiscipline". Open this folder and create another folder.
Then, create a folder inside Paradox Interactive (if you don't have one already) called "mod".
This should be under C://Users/*insert user name here*/documents/Paradox Interactive. First, go to the Paradox Interactive folder. Hello readers of r/eu4, I now present to you a guide to make mod-making ever so slightly less complicated without having to dig through tons of internet resources to find the steps that apply to this version.įirst, we need to locate/create your mod folder.
